V&S Midwest Carriers Corporation is a privately owned, asset based, truckload and less than truckload carrier conveniently based in the northern Fox Cities of Wisconsin and just minutes south of Green Bay along Highway 41. Our company focuses on the transportation of time sensitive, temperature controlled and dry product to customers in the contiguous 48 United States. Our primary focus is the satisfaction of our customers. We best achieve this by creating a fun and healthy work environment, maintaining top-notch equipment and making safety a top priority. V&S Midwest Carriers has grown steadily over the years from one truck and trailer in 1986 to over 150 power units and over 250 trailers today.

Dave and Marge Van Handel founded V&S Midwest Carriers Corporation in 1986 when a man with a truck had the determination to deliver goods on time to satisfied customers. As the customer base began to grow, Dave and Marge bought another truck and hired their first driver, Jim Munes, in 1986. In the following year, they rented their first office in Little Chute, WI, and hired two additional employees, Shirely Wunderlich and Dean Bowers. All three of these employees are still with the company after over 20 years of service.

In late 1990, the company grew from 2 to 10 trucks. It was at that time Jeff Schramm was hired as the company’s safety director. The safety department worked out of a small office in a warehouse facility in the Kaukauna Industrial Park.
With this foundation and commitment to customer service, V&S Midwest Carriers grew to about 75 trucks and 100 trailers by 1998. In July of that year, Jeff Schramm was named Chief Operating Officer and the company started plans to gut out and remodel the warehouse, add offices, and move all operations under one roof.
In April of 2002, V&S Midwest Carriers started a L.T.L. division in Fond du Lac, WI.
Presently, V&S Midwest Carriers consists of 150 trucks and 250 trailers with over 160 employees. Over the years we have been presented with many awards in recognition of Safety and Service. In 2005 and 2007, we were honored to accept the Sysco Corp. Supply Chain Carrier of the Year Award for the northeast region of the U.S. It’s because of the passion and hard work of all our employees and great customers, past and present, that we have been able to grow into the company we are proud of today.

In 2001, V&S Midwest Carriers joined Traffic Insurance LTD - a self-funded captive, insurance group of elite transportation companies with a common goal to lower insurance costs through effective safety processes. There are over 60 members of this group committed to safety and sharing their best practices in order to benefit all captive members. The semi-annual safety and board meetings have proved to be priceless in learning new ways to effectively manage safety and control costs within our company. Joining Captive Insurance LTD has been one of the most beneficial decisions we have made for our company over the last 20 years. We feel this decision has had a profound impact on our customers in that they can be assured that our drivers, administrative staff and mechanics are all working to deliver your freight as safe and efficient as possible. Because of the hard work of our drivers, administrative staff, and mechanics, our company was proud to accept the Stephen A. Wylie/Michael G. Haske Award for Safety in 2004. This is the top award handed out annually to the safest of over 60 carriers in Traffic Insurance LTD. This is a very special award considering the company, and we strive everyday to earn another.
